My second night in a bivy bag was on Soay, St Kilda. The island had not been landed for over five years when I spent the night on the island on 28/29 August 2007. Since the previous landing there had been a major land fall at the established landing point.
Arriving at the summit of Soay, the Westernmost Point of Scotland, GB and the UK I had achieved my goal to become the first person to land all 162 Scottish islands which are 40 hectares or greater in size.
By sleeping on the island I became the first person to sleep alone on both Soay and Boreray. In addition I became the first person to sleep on all 162 Scottish islands which are 40 hectares or greater in size.
