Having decided to make a major lifestyle change in February 2020, one of my first actions was to visit Bodhgaya, India, the place where Buddha attained enlightenment.

I had hoped to return later in 2020, but then Covid hit the world. By late 2021, entry to India for UK nationals was still not possible. So, I made the decision to visit Lumbini, Nepal, in December 2021 for two months. Lumbini is the birthplace of Buddha.
Before I departed from the UK, I returned to a vegetarian diet. In Lumbini, every day, I walked in the early morning to the Maya Devi Temple. Within weeks of arriving back in the UK, I ceased to drink alcohol. Having peaked at 103.5kg, my weight started to decrease.
Lumbini improved my spiritual life and my health. It has also changed me in an unexpected way. Losing so much weight, my clothes started to become generous on me. In June 2022, I was introduced to a very talented tailor in Bhairahawa, the local city 16 miles to the East of Lumbini.
Since then, I have had many shirts, suits, waist coats, and shorts made. Visiting the tailor is now my main hobby.
Ironically, the Covid lockdown was good for my painting & decorating business, my Buddhism, my health, and my appearance.
I am currently on my seventh visit to Lumbini since December 2021. My weight continues to drop slowly while visits to my tailor remain constant.
