In 2012, UK flag flying legislation required a review to ensure it was fit for purpose. At that time, I was fortunate to be a member of the Flag Institute, and I was keen to ensure this would be applied to the Ridings of Yorkshire.
In that year, new legislation introduced regarding flag flying in the UK, specifically referenced “… the flag of…. any Riding of Yorkshire….”. This was my open invitation to create flags for them.
In 2013, as part of an ongoing campaign to remind people of the continued existence of the traditional divisions of Yorkshire, in cooperation with the Flag Institute, I established flags for East Riding of Yorkshire, North Riding of Yorkshire and West Riding of Yorkshire.

Also, in 2013, I established the County Durham flag.
In 2015, the final flag I established was the Cambridgeshire flag
